Magical Festive Cart

Working with polymer clay, we will learn the techniques to create whimsical snowmen, gingerbread, festive candies, and more from polymer clay, focusing on free-hand sculpting and caning techniques.

We will also construct a cart kit and decorate it with festive fabrics, trims, papers, and just a little sparkle to add that magical personal touch to your creations.

Finally, our sculpted work and the carts will come together to create a magical festive scene ready to display throughout the holiday season.

All tools and materials for this class will be provided. It would however be useful for students to bring a pair of scissors, a craft knife, a work light, and magnification tools.

This workshop is for adults with some crafting experience.

Michael Robbins is a miniature artist from Yorkshire in the U.K. His work invites the audience into a magical world of pumpkins, mushrooms, magical plants, and creatures. Predominantly made from polymer clay, Michael's hand sculpts each magical character from scratch without the use of moulds, ensuring each and every one has its own unique character and personality. These whimsical characters also often feature mixed-media elements in their design such as wire, paper, paints, glass, wood, and scenic effects.

Michael has been making miniatures for around 10 years and has shown his work at many shows both in the U.K. and internationally. His works continue to be shown and sold at the York Fair, Miniatura shows, and the Kensington Dollshouse Festival, as well as overseas at the Chicago International Show and the Good Sam Showcase in San Jose California

Michael was also a semi-finalist on More 4’s (a tv network in the UK) ‘The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge’, a tv competition show where miniaturists competed, creating tiny rooms inspired by different periods in time.

Michael now continues to produce work for sale for shows around the world and teaches workshops both in the U.K. and now in America.
