Title: Corner Roombox Class
Date: Tuesday, April 15, 2014
Location: The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures
Cost: $25/$20 members*
Instructor: Lani Smith
Registration Deadline: 4pm on April 10, 2014
Class Description: If you feel that even a roombox class is a little too intimidating, here's an even quicker project! This vignette box will fit almost anywhere a box of tissues would go. About half the size of a roombox, measuring only 9" x 9" x 10"h- it is the perfect size to highlight one or two miniature pieces. We'll finish this mini box with wallpaper, wainscoting, chair-rails, baseboard molding and finish trim work on the outside edges. Techniques learned will include hanging wallpaper, painting and sanding and using a miter-box to create right angles for the trim work.
Instructor Biography: Lani has been with The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures for three years. She began as a volunteer and has completed docent-training. Currently she works part-time at the front desk as Museum Services Assistant. Lani began making and collecting miniatures 30 years ago and has been active in the Southern Arizona Miniature Society ever since (formerly TMS). She now has a modest collection of roomboxes- some created in workshops with renowned miniature artists and dollhouses- each unique and ranging in style. She has furnished all the housed with furniture assembled predominately from kits. She’ll share many of the tips and techniques that she has learned with the class.
