Instructor: Carol Deters
Skill Level: Beginner
Class Fee: $20 / $18 for members
Registration Deadline: October 31, 2012
Class Description: Bookends showcasing a miniature scene can be a perfect gift. It takes very little time to assemble a few special pieces that are meaningful to a friend or family member. With just a little wallpaper, paint, flooring, one or two furniture pieces, and a few accessories, you can have a delightful diorama that in addition to being clever is also useful. Participants will receive a pair of bookends each 8 ½” X 6 ½” x 6 ½”. In class each person will finish one bookend creating a miniature scene. Possible themes: holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, favorite team, homage to a loved one, author, artist, or musician. Of course you can always finish the bookend or add to it later.
Instructor Biography: Carol Deters has a life-long love of miniatures. As a child she spent hours rearranging tiny furniture in stacked orange crates. Later she made several play houses in various scales for her children, and then for grandchildren. She continues to create dollhouses and vignettes, and has a wonderful collection of minis from all the Spanish speaking countries she’s visited: Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Ecuador. Carol’s miniatures have been featured in “Dollhouse Miniatures,” “Miniature Collector,” and “The Heart of Miniatures” magazines.
Minimum and Maximum enrollment: 4/8
Tools/Materials: Bookends and an assortment of art materials will be provided. Bring along any special items you want to use: wrapping paper for the wall, scrapbooking paper, flooring (we will have a selection in class), any furniture and accessories.
