Museum Services Assistant (Part-Time, Weekends and Sub)

The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures is seeking a professional to assume the part-time and sub position of Museum Services Assistant. The Museum Services Assistant reports to the Museum Services Manager. This person would work 16 hours per week on weekends and would have the opportunity for additional hours as a sub during the week.

Primary Functions:

  • Visitor Services, to include all aspects of greeting and assisting museum patrons
  • Museum admission sales and museum store sales
  • Promoting and processing museum memberships and assisting in their timely fulfillment
  • Addressing visitor accessibility concerns and requests
  • Having a thorough knowledge of the museum’s history and the scope of the collection

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with museum opening and closing routines
  • Data entry as assigned
  • Assisting in the safety and security of the museum through gallery monitoring
  • Store up-keep and merchandising

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional people skills
  • Retail and customer service experience with a POS operating system
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to a variety of situations
  • Computer competency in Excel and Word and data entry experience


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a background check

Other considerations and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to reach into low cabinets, climb a footstool, and stand frequently and for long periods of time
  • Availability to work throughout the holiday season
  • Some flexibility to work occasional weekday shifts

: Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00am – 4:30pm with 30-minute unpaid break; opportunity for additional shifts as a sub during the week

Hours: 16 hours/week, max 30 hours/week

Salary: $13.00/hour to start, $15.00/hour after 90-day probation period
