Level: This is an introductory, beginning-level class. All skills and techniques for assembling the historical room and using stop motion animation techniques will be taught in detail.

Class Description: Explore the wonders of the Louvre by recreating and animating one of its majestic halls in miniature. In this four-session class, participants will assemble their room, design and decorate the interior, and create a cast of historical characters. During the last class session, participants will bring movement to their characters using “frame by frame” stop motion animation techniques.

The Louvre has a long and varied history as a royal palace, ultimately serving as a backdrop to the French Revolution and becoming France’s first “museum for the people” in 1793. The Louvre’s fascinating history will be sure to captivate and inspire your artistic imagination in this class. For additional inspiration, participants will tour the museum’s fall exhibit – George Stuart Historical Figures: Early Works from the Hernandez Monsanto Collection, featuring one-quarter-life-size figures of famous and infamous people throughout history.
