This miniature is a rendition of the log cabin home of children’s book author Laura Ingalls Wilder. From 1932-43, Ingalls Wilder wrote the Little House on the Prairie series based on her childhood in a settler and pioneer family. Miniaturists Tom and Catherine “Kitty” Latané made this replica of the real-world log cabin which stands at the original site of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s birthplace in Pepin, WI. The real-world cabin was built in the late 20th century to replicate the actual cabin where Ingalls Wilder was born in 1867 and which she described in her book The Little House in the Big Woods.
